BEST of SHOW at RMAF

Tags: , , , ,

We are happy to see that The Audio Beat declared our room as Best of Show at RMAF 2011 held a few days ago. This is to a great part thanks to our friends at Volti Audio with their amazing horn speakers as well as DSA line stage and phono stage. My dear friend Ming of GOTO USA arranged the room and took care of lots of things. I can not thank him enough.

SORAsound showed AMAZON REFERENZ, Moerch DP8 tonearm, and ZYX Omega cartridge. The sound was great. Personally, I do not think we went out of our way to make the room sound good. In general, I am not so keen on shows. I mainly look forward to meet customers in person.

Given that, I spend a lot of time outside our own room, meeting manufacturers, checking out other products, and meeting customers I have talked to on the phone or emailed with but had never met in person. During this time my friend Hans Henrik Moerch and his wife, Benedikte stayed in the room all the time, taking care of the analog rig, and explaining their tonearm to visitors.  Hans Henrik is a perfectionist and very detailed oriented. Seen in this picture he is adjusting his poster, making sure it is straight. By the same token when he makes tonearms, not only he checks them out under light many times for consistency, he checks them under sun shine too!

Thanks again to the great team we had at RMAF and to The Audio Beat for their recognition of our room.

Munich Hi-End Show – Short Report

Tags: , , , , , ,

It was a pleasure to attend the Munich Hi-End show. It was in particular important for me to see some friends, customers, manufacturers and other people from the industry. Spent a good amount of time with Roger Adamek of RCM Audio, walking around, and taking pictures. Roger is a very technical person. He approaches photography as an art and a science, same as his approach to building his high quality Bonasus amplifier and Sensor phono stage.

My dear friends Peter, and Jolanda of DaVinci Audio were as always enthusiastic and welcoming.. Everyone knows how stunningly good these high quality products are. I saw DaVinci Audio inUnison turntable in another room as well. Great sound. Can not wait for my blue inUnison.

AMAZON Audio room had on display Hartmut Janssen’s latest creations: First Choice turntable, and AMAZON Audio Speakers. Both great products that will soon be present at SORAsound showrooms.

Hans Henrik Moerch presented his tonearms and (finally) his latest reference creation. Moerch reference tone-arm just was selected as Absolute Sound’s 2010 Golden Ear Award.

Munich is a good city (pictures to be posted soon by my web lady), nice walks, great culture and friendly people. Many speak good English. As a city, it is a lot more interesting for me than Vegas. So, I was a lot more eager to go to the Munich Hi-End show than The CES.

In all honesty, the Munich Meridien Hotel was the least impressive Meridien Hotel I have ever stayed at, even though they had kindly upgraded me to an Executive room, and the service was about as good as all other Meridien Hotels I know of in other countries and America. The location is also pretty boring. So if you are heading to the Munich show next year, I neither recommend the hotel (unless you get a much better rate than I did) nor the area.

Had a very good meal at Tantris, known to be the best restaurant in Munich, and one of the best restaurants in Germany.

There were two events: hifideluxe at the Meridien Hotel, and Munich High-End show at the MOC, Munich. I am a pretty quick decision maker. I go to a Read more…

Munich Hi-End Show: SORAsound, Amazon Audio, DaVinci Audio, and Moerch Tone-arms

SORAsound will be attending the Munich Hi-End Show from May 5 to 8. Aside from spending a good amount of time at the AMAZON Audio / Moerch Tonearms room as well as with DaVinci Audio, I will be renewing vows with as many friends as possible!

My dear friend Hartmut Janssen of Amazon Audio will be showing off his latest masterpieces: First Choice turntable, and a beautiful pair of speakers he has been working on for the last many years. Hans Henrik Moerch, the ever perfectionist he is, will be demonstrating his reference tonearm, Finally!

The great folks of DaVinci Audio will be exhibiting their mouth watering products, un-paralleled in performance and build quality, as you would expect from such a high caliber Swiss manufacturer.

Couple of European friends are kindly driving to Munich to meet me. I look forward to visiting with as many of my friends and audiophiles abroad as possible. Frankly, it is even easier to meet my Audiophile American friends abroad than in America as I do not normally attend the CES (never had the Vegas itch). If you are there and available, please let me know. Maybe we can grab a good beer or at least shake hands and talk a few minutes. You can always catch me via phone, text, email, and of course a call to my hotel (Le Meridien Hotel) where the annex part of the show is taking place.

Expect some exciting NEWS after I return.

Haiti Relief Fund

What a heart breaking tragedy. At such times I need someone like poet and audiophile, Garrett Hongo to put in words how I feel. In fact this devastating tragedy leaves so many of us speechless. But then again, we have Pat Robertson talking about Haiti’s “pact to the devil.” The only difference between this man and the bigots in another country I am deeply familiar with, is the robes.

Thank God the voice of us Americans and our president are much louder and much more clear as demonstrated in our actions. For our part, SORAsound auctions the following items to do our small part to help the Haitians:

Please bid on these items and/or help the Haiti relief funds. To make an automatic $10 donation to the Red Cross, text Haiti to 90999; the money will be charged directly to your cell phone bill.

AMAZON audio turntables and MOERCH tonearms

SORAsound has been representing amazon audio and moerch for a few years now. there are a couple of companies in north america that claim on their websites they are authorized dealers for these items. they are not! in one case, the company still claims on their website they are moerch distributor. we asked them a few years ago a few times to move that from their website. they did not do that. please contact SORAsound if you are interested in any of the AMAZON audio turntables or moerch tonearms and we take care of you ourselves or via one of our authorized partners.
